Rail Travel: Major Track Closures and Replacement Buses

As part of the ongoing Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade Stage 1 and Cross River Rail supporting works, major track closures are in effect. Buses will replace trains in both directions between Gympie North and Caboolture stations throughout the day. Translink has advised that these replacement services may take significantly longer than the standard train journey, so passengers are urged to allow at least 60 minutes of extra travel time.

Normal rail services are expected to remain disrupted across the broader South East Queensland network as part of a scheduled Easter-period maintenance block, so those heading south toward Brisbane should check for further connections at Caboolture. Protected industrial action may also affect the accuracy of real-time digital displays; commuters are encouraged to consult printed timetables at stations where possible.

Major Roadworks and Night Shift Commencing

Motorists using the region’s arterial roads should prepare for changed conditions, particularly as evening approaches. Construction activity on Steve Irwin Way continues between Beerburrum and Beerwah. While standard day works are paused on Sundays, night works are scheduled to resume at 7:00 PM tonight. Drivers should expect reduced speed limits, increased worker vehicle movements, and potential short-term lane closures through the construction zone until 5:00 AM Monday morning.

In Bli Bli, night-time asphalt resurfacing is scheduled for a 500-metre stretch of David Low Way, extending from the Bli Bli Road roundabout to the western side of the Maroochy River Bridge. These works are active from 7:00 PM and will cause delays for late-night travelers. Access to local shopping centers and the caravan park will remain open, but traffic controllers will be on-site to manage flow.

• Glass House Mountains: Moffatt Road remains closed to through traffic between Steve Irwin Way and Anderson Road. Detour signage is in place, and motorists are advised to expect minor delays in the surrounding local streets.
• Maroochydore: The northbound lane of First Avenue between Aerodrome Road and the Esplanade remains closed. Traffic is being detoured via Aerodrome Road and Second Avenue.
• Dicky Beach: Cooroy Street is closed between Coochin Street and Beerburrum Street for rehabilitation works. Use Coonowrin Street as an alternative route.
• Mountain Creek/Sippy Downs: On the Sunshine Motorway, eastbound delays are expected after the Kawana Way exit due to ongoing site upgrades.
