Government Activity Highlights Busy Wednesday for Sunshine Coast

As the region looks toward a pivotal end-of-month council session, today marks a significant milestone for the local technology and business sector. Mayor Rosanna Natoli and the Sunshine Coast Council’s Economic Development Branch officially inaugurated a new monthly series designed to bolster the region’s growing innovation ecosystem.

'Start Here' Launch at City Hall

Early this morning, the "Start Here: Your launch point for the Sunshine Coast innovation pathway" session took place at the Altitude Nine venue within City Hall. The event, which ran from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM, serves as the first in a new monthly series aimed at showcasing and connecting the local tech and innovation sectors. This initiative is part of the Council’s broader strategy to support entrepreneurial growth and future-proof the regional economy.

  • Connecting local startups with industry experts and mentors.
  • Strengthening the regional innovation and tech ecosystem through monthly engagement.
  • Providing a dedicated networking platform for young professionals and business leaders.

Ordinary Meeting Agenda Released for Review

While innovation was the primary focus of the morning, administrative attention at City Hall has shifted to the agenda for the upcoming Ordinary Meeting, scheduled for tomorrow morning, Thursday, 26 March. As of today, the public and media have access to the business papers and reports that will guide the Council’s votes and decisions during the session.

In line with standard practice for these monthly gatherings, the Council is expected to review the most recent financial performance reports and address community petitions submitted by residents across the Sunshine Coast’s ten divisions. The upcoming meeting follows the Council's significant recent decision to bring the management of the Maroochydore City Centre project in-house—a move projected to save ratepayers approximately $1 million per year by streamlining governance and reducing duplication.

Community Support and Health Advocacy

In addition to formal government business, Mayor Natoli has been active today promoting "Wishlist Giving Day," which also takes place tomorrow. The Mayor is a long-standing supporter of the initiative, which raises critical funds for local health services. This morning, she reminded the community that all donations made during the 24-hour event will be doubled by corporate matchers, providing a major boost to regional medical facilities and patient care.

Public Participation Encouraged

The Ordinary Meeting will commence at 9:00 AM tomorrow at the Sunshine Coast City Hall Chambers on First Avenue in Maroochydore. Members of the public are welcome to attend the gallery to observe the proceedings. For those unable to attend in person, the session will be broadcast live via the Council’s official streaming services to ensure transparent decision-making for all residents.
