Public Service Announcement: Regional Road Infrastructure and Maintenance

Sunshine Coast Council is advising residents and motorists of several active road maintenance and rehabilitation projects scheduled for Sunday, 22 March 2026. Motorists are urged to plan their journeys in advance and allow for additional travel time as these essential works continue across the region.

  • Alexandra Headland (Janet Street): Major road rehabilitation works are currently underway on Janet Street. This project, which commenced on 16 March, is expected to continue for approximately three weeks. Residents should expect restricted vehicle movements and follow all on-site traffic management directions.
  • Buderim (Cumberland Way, Burnett Lane, and Rainforest Sanctuary): Road resealing operations are active across several key areas in Buderim. Maintenance at Cumberland Way, which began on 15 March, and Burnett Lane, which started on 17 March, remains ongoing. Additionally, works at Rainforest Sanctuary are expected to cause minor delays through the weekend.
  • Maroochydore (Bradman Avenue): Lane reductions are in effect on Bradman Avenue as part of a week-long maintenance program ending 24 March. Drivers should exercise caution and expect altered traffic flow in both directions.
  • Bli Bli (David Low Way): Essential repairs are currently active on David Low Way following recent weather impacts. Traffic is being managed through single-lane blockages, with delays expected to persist until at least 25 March.

Public Health Advisory: Measles Vaccination Reminder

Sunshine Coast Health continues to monitor the community following recent health alerts regarding measles exposure sites. While specific exposure risks at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital have passed the primary incubation period, health officials are reminding residents to remain vigilant. The public is encouraged to check their immunization status, particularly for those born in or after 1966 who may not have received two documented doses of the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine. Symptoms to watch for include high fever, cough, runny nose, and a red blotchy rash. If symptoms develop, please contact your GP via phone before visiting to ensure appropriate precautions can be taken.

Governance and Planning Updates

The Sunshine Coast Council has released the agenda for the upcoming Ordinary Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, 26 March 2026, at the Sunshine Coast City Hall Chambers in Maroochydore. Residents are invited to attend the 9:00 am session or view the proceedings via the official live stream. Key topics on the agenda include the finalization of the new Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme and updates on infrastructure projects linked to the 2032 Games legacy.

Work also continues on the 2025-26 Operational Plan, with a focus on sustainable growth and the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line project. Council thanks the community for their ongoing participation in the public consultation phases of these regional strategies.
