Public Notice: Essential Infrastructure Works and Council Updates for March 24

Road Maintenance and Local Traffic Advisories
Sunshine Coast Council has issued several notices regarding road maintenance and rehabilitation works scheduled to be active on Tuesday, 24 March 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly as delays may occur in the following areas:
- Maleny (Bunya Street): A road resealing project is scheduled to commence today, Tuesday, 24 March. These works are expected to last approximately two weeks, subject to weather conditions. Traffic management will be on-site to assist motorists.
- Little Mountain (Latcham Drive): Essential road resealing continues following its start on 23 March. Motorists should expect minor delays for the next 10 days as crews complete the surface treatment.
- Alexandra Headland (Janet Street): Major road rehabilitation works are ongoing. This project, which began in mid-March, is expected to continue for another week. Additionally, the Mary Street fence renewal project is nearing completion, ensuring improved safety for pedestrians.
- Aroona (Ocean Ridge Park): Pathway renewal works are currently active. Access to the existing footpath may be restricted while the new surface is installed, with a scheduled completion date at the end of this week.
- Bokarina (Dune Vista Drive): Construction of a new raised priority pedestrian crossing is underway. Temporary road closures and detours are in place to facilitate the safe installation of the crossing and associated drainage works.
Major Infrastructure and Coastal Projects
Significant long-term infrastructure projects remain active across the region. At the Alex Bluff Foreshore Park in Alexandra Headland, the Coastal Pathway upgrade continues. This project involves widening the existing path to a 3.5-metre shared pathway to improve safety for walkers and cyclists. Work is expected to continue through the middle of the year.
In Battery Hill, demolition activities are ongoing at Careen Street, Elinya Street, and Buderim Street. These works are part of a critical stormwater network upgrade designed to reduce flood risks and improve drainage resilience for the local community. Residents are reminded to stay clear of the fenced demolition zones.
Council Governance and Public Meetings
Notice is hereby given that the Sunshine Coast Council will hold an Ordinary Meeting on Thursday, 26 March 2026, at the Sunshine Coast City Hall Chambers in Maroochydore. In accordance with local government regulations, the meeting agenda and associated reports are available for public viewing starting today, March 24. Members of the public are invited to attend the gallery or view the live stream via the Council’s official website.
Community Reminders and Grant Opportunities
The Sunshine Coast Council is currently seeking community feedback on the proposed Sunshine Coast Dark Sky Reserve. Residents are encouraged to participate in the engagement process to help preserve the region's natural night environment. Furthermore, applications for the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grants remain open for local artists and cultural projects. Detailed guidelines and application forms are available through the Council’s community portals.
