Public Notice: Essential Roadworks and Infrastructure Milestones for March 23

Official Council Notice: Scheduled Road Maintenance
Sunshine Coast Council has issued several notices regarding road rehabilitation and maintenance projects active as of Monday, 23 March 2026. Residents and motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays.
- Latcham Drive, Little Mountain: Night works for a road resealing project are scheduled to commence tonight, Monday, 23 March. Work will occur between 6:00 pm and 5:00 am. This project is expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Noise and minor vibrations may be experienced.
- Janet Street, Alexandra Headland: Ongoing road rehabilitation works continue this week. These works, which began on 16 March, are scheduled for a three-week duration. Expect localized traffic management and minor detours during daylight hours.
- Cumberland Way, Buderim: Road resealing remains underway and is expected to continue through the end of the week. Motorists should follow all directional signage and observe reduced speed limits in the work zone.
Major Infrastructure Updates: 'The Wave' and Regional Transport
Significant progress is reported on the region's 'generational' transport infrastructure projects. As of this morning, the following milestones are active:
- The Wave (Stage 2): Site investigations and the final round of geotechnical works are currently active at the site of the future Aroona Station. These works are critical for finalizing the detailed design of the rail extension between Beerwah and Birtinya.
- Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade (CTCU): Council has officially opened construction tenders for the section between Nicklin Way and Third Avenue. This project aims to alleviate congestion at major intersections and provide an alternative route into the Caloundra CBD.
- Mooloolah River Interchange: Early works for Stage 1 are progressing, with procurement currently advancing for major civil works. Residents may notice increased heavy vehicle movement near the Sunshine Motorway and Nicklin Way interchange.
Public Health Advisory: Seasonal Safety
Sunshine Coast Health reminds residents to maintain vigilance regarding seasonal health risks. With the current warm conditions, the following advisories remain active:
- Tick Safety: Authorities urge residents and visitors to check for ticks after spending time in high grass or bushland areas. If bitten, seek medical advice if symptoms such as a rash or lethargy develop.
- Wildlife Awareness: Council continues its 'Stay Safe' initiative, encouraging drivers to exercise caution on rural and semi-rural roads to reduce wildlife collisions, particularly during dawn and dusk.

An Ordinary Meeting of the Sunshine Coast Council is scheduled for Thursday, 26 March 2026, at 9:00 am in the City Hall Chambers, Maroochydore. Meeting agendas and reports were made available to the public last week and can be reviewed via the official council portal.
