Public Notice: Infrastructure Milestones and Local Service Updates

Infrastructure and Road Maintenance Schedule
Sunshine Coast Council continues its commitment to regional safety and accessibility with several essential road and pathway projects active this week. Residents are advised of the following maintenance schedules commencing or continuing on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
- Buderim Road Resealing: Road resealing works are scheduled to begin today at Rainforest Sanctuary, Buderim. These works are expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Additionally, ongoing resealing continues at Burnett Lane and Cumberland Way. Motorists should anticipate minor delays and follow all onsite directional signage.
- Alexandra Headland Rehabilitation: Road rehabilitation works on Janet Street remain underway. Traffic management is in place to ensure resident access while crews complete the three-week project aimed at improving road surface longevity.
- Aroona Pathway Renewal: Construction has commenced on the renewal of the existing footpath at Ocean Ridge Park. This project is expected to take two weeks to complete, significantly improving pedestrian safety and local amenity.
Public Facility and Park Notices
As the region transitions following recent major events, certain facility closures remain in effect to facilitate equipment removal and site remediation.
- Charles Clark Park Closure: The total closure of the Charles Clark Park car park in Mooloolaba remains in effect until 5:00 PM today, Wednesday, 18 March. This closure is the final stage of the pack-down for the annual Mooloolaba Triathlon festival. The community is thanked for their patience during the restoration of the parklands.
- Stormwater Infrastructure Upgrades: Demolition and site preparation works continue at Careen Street, Elinya Street, and Buderim Street in Battery Hill. These works are part of a critical stormwater network upgrade to enhance flood resilience in the local catchment.
Regional Development Milestones
In addition to local maintenance, several generational infrastructure projects have reached significant milestones this week. Construction has officially broken ground on the new Aura Town Centre. This 16,300-square-metre precinct will serve as the retail and social heart of the Caloundra South Priority Development Area, featuring major supermarkets and over 55 specialty retailers.
Concurrently, the final round of geotechnical investigations for "The Wave" (Stage 2) is proceeding at the future site of Aroona Station. These works are essential for providing the technical data required to kick-start the detailed design of the region's upcoming dual-track rail network.
Community Announcements
Sunshine Coast Council invites residents to participate in Harmony Week (16–22 March). A variety of community-led events are taking place across the region to celebrate cultural diversity under the theme "Everyone Belongs." Residents are encouraged to explore local sports, art, and music events that highlight the stories of our multicultural community. Citizens are also reminded to exercise caution on regional roads to reduce wildlife collisions, particularly during dawn and dusk hours.
