Public Notice: Infrastructure Upgrades and Community Consultation Schedule

Official Notice: Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade Public Comment
Sunshine Coast Council, in partnership with the Queensland Government, has officially opened the public comment period for the Preliminary Documentation of the Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade (CTCU). This major project involves a new 1.6-kilometre road and active transport link between Omrah Avenue and Nicklin Way. Documentation addressing potential environmental impacts—specifically concerning the Koala and the Moreton Bay Ramsar site—is now on public display. Residents can inspect these documents at the Maroochydore and Caloundra Customer Contact Counters or the State Library of Queensland. The feedback period remains open until 5:00 pm on Friday, 10 April 2026.
Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Works
Council's $26 million Road Reseal and Rehabilitation Program continues this week with several active work zones. Residents should plan for potential delays in the following areas:
- Alexandra Headland: Rehabilitation works on Janet Street are currently in progress. Traffic management is in place between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. This project is expected to continue for another week, weather permitting.
- Little Mountain: Road resealing is underway on Latcham Drive. Motorists are advised to follow all directional signage and expect minor delays through the end of the month.
- Nambour: Preparation for ancillary works on Currie Street is scheduled to begin shortly; however, preliminary signage and site assessments may be visible from today.
- Ongoing Maintenance: Mobile crews are conducting road surface line marking across various suburbs in Divisions 3 and 4. These works are transient but require motorists to maintain a safe distance from marking vehicles.
Park and Pathway Improvements
Upgrades to local community infrastructure are active at several key foreshore and parkland locations:
- Alex Bluff Foreshore Park: Construction continues on the Coastal Pathway upgrade. The project is widening the existing 1.8-metre path to a 3.5-metre shared pathway to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Aroona: Pathway renewal works at Ocean Ridge Park are nearing completion. The site remains active with minor earthworks to level new concrete sections.
- Battery Hill: Stormwater network upgrades are progressing with the scheduled demolition of acquired buildings on Careen, Elinya, and Buderim Streets. This work is part of a broader effort to mitigate regional flood risks.
Utility and Health Advisories
Unitywater has issued a notice regarding the temporary closure of the Kawana Forest Bushland Trail starting this week. The closure is necessary to facilitate the connection of new wastewater pipelines for the Aura development. The trail is expected to remain closed to the public until July 2026. Additionally, residents are advised that the regional roll-out of digital water meters will commence in older residential areas across the Sunshine Coast and Noosa from the end of March to help identify hidden leaks and reduce water waste.
