Public Notice: Infrastructure Works and Community Consultations

Council Project Updates and Public Notices
As of Wednesday, 8 April 2026, the following official notices and public service announcements are active for the Sunshine Coast and Noosa regions. Residents and visitors are advised to review these updates to assist with travel planning and community participation.
Public Consultation: Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade
The Sunshine Coast Council, in partnership with the Queensland Government, is currently inviting public comment on the Preliminary Documentation for the Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade. This project involves a new 1.6-kilometre road and active transport link between Omrah Avenue and Nicklin Way. Documentation is on public display at the Maroochydore and Caloundra Customer Contact Counters until Friday, 10 April 2026. Interested parties must submit their written comments by 5:00 pm on this date.
Regional Roadworks and Maintenance
Several road maintenance projects are underway across the region, requiring motorists to follow changed traffic conditions:
- Woombye: Maintenance on the Blackall Range Road Bridge began on 2 April and is expected to continue for approximately two weeks.
- Nambour: Ancillary works on Currie Street are ongoing, with a scheduled duration of three weeks from late March.
- Glass House Mountains: Road resealing on Sahara Road is currently active, with works expected to conclude by the end of this week.
- Bli Bli: Night-time asphalt resurfacing continues on David Low Way near the Maroochy River Bridge. Work typically occurs between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am to minimize peak-hour disruptions.
- Noosaville: Noosa Council has commenced kerb and channel works on James Street. These works are scheduled for completion by mid-to-late April.
Public Transport: Rail Network Upgrades
Translink has confirmed major track closures affecting the Sunshine Coast rail line from 3 April to 26 April 2026. These closures are necessary to facilitate the Beerburrum to Nambour Stage 1 upgrade and the installation of new digital signaling systems. Passengers should expect significantly longer travel times and are encouraged to use the journey planner to coordinate alternative transport via replacement bus services.
Community Grants and Services
The 2026 round of the Sports Field Maintenance Funding is now open. Not-for-profit community organizations responsible for the maintenance of community sports fields within the Sunshine Coast Local Government Area are eligible to apply. The application window remains open until 4 May 2026. Additionally, Noosa Council reminds residents to safely dispose of batteries at designated recovery centres following recent fire incidents at local waste facilities.
