Official City Notices for Tuesday, 7 April 2026

Sunshine Coast and Noosa residents are advised of several active public notices, infrastructure projects, and safety advisories currently in effect across the region. Please review the following official updates regarding road maintenance, public consultations, and community health and safety protocols.

Infrastructure and Road Maintenance

Ongoing essential maintenance and rehabilitation projects are currently active throughout the Sunshine Coast. Motorists should anticipate minor delays and follow all posted traffic management instructions at the following sites:

  • Woombye (Blackall Range Road Bridge): Essential bridge maintenance is currently underway. These works commenced on 2 April and are expected to continue for approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Traffic control measures are in place to ensure the safety of both workers and the public.
  • Nambour (Currie Street): Ancillary roadworks remain active on Currie Street. This project is scheduled to run through mid-April. Day shifts typically occur between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, and residents are advised to allow extra travel time when commuting through the CBD.
  • Noosa (James Street): Kerb and channel works are currently in progress on James Street as part of a wider infrastructure improvement program for early April. Asphalt resurfacing is expected to follow later in the month.

Public Consultation: Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade

Sunshine Coast Council, in partnership with the State Government, reminds residents that the public comment period for the Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade remains open. Preliminary documentation addressing environmental protection and biodiversity—specifically regarding the 1.6-kilometre link between Omrah Avenue and Nicklin Way—is available for public review.

Interested community members can view the documentation at Council’s customer contact counters in Maroochydore and Caloundra until Friday, 10 April 2026. Written submissions are invited and must be received by 5:00 pm on the closing date.

Community Safety and Waste Advisories

Following recent incidents at regional waste facilities, Noosa Council has issued an urgent advisory regarding the disposal of hazardous materials. Investigations into a recent blaze at the Doonan Resource Recovery Centre have identified improperly discarded batteries as the likely cause.

Residents are strictly prohibited from placing batteries of any kind—including lithium-ion, lead-acid, and standard household batteries—in general waste or recycling bins. Please utilize designated battery recycling drop-off points located throughout the region to prevent fire hazards and ensure environmental safety.

Public Health Awareness

Queensland Health continues to monitor notifiable conditions across the state. Residents are reminded to stay up to date with routine vaccinations and to contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) for non-urgent medical advice or to report concerns regarding communicable diseases. Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene remains a priority for community well-being.
