Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade: Public Comment Open

Sunshine Coast Council, in partnership with the Queensland Government, is currently inviting public feedback on the preliminary documentation for the Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade (EPBC Ref: 2024/09956). This project involves the delivery of a new 1.6-kilometre road and active transport link between Omrah Avenue and Nicklin Way. Documentation regarding potential impacts on Matters of National Environmental Significance, including local Koala populations and the Moreton Bay Ramsar site, is on display at the Maroochydore and Caloundra Customer Contact Counters until April 10, 2026. Residents are encouraged to submit written comments by 5:00 pm on the closing date.

Scheduled Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation

Several roadwork projects are active across the region this Tuesday, March 31. Motorists should expect changed traffic conditions and potential delays in the following areas:

  • Alexandra Headland: Road rehabilitation works continue on Janet Street. This project is expected to be completed by early April.
  • Nambour: Ancillary works have commenced on Currie Street. Traffic management is in place for the duration of this three-week project.
  • Glass House Mountains: A road reseal project is underway on Sahara Road, with works scheduled to continue for approximately two years.
  • Little Mountain: Resealing efforts are ongoing on Latcham Drive, with completion anticipated by the end of the week, weather permitting.
  • Buderim: Road maintenance continues within the Rainforest Sanctuary area.

Night works also persist on David Low Way near the Bli Bli Bridge for asphalt resurfacing. Drivers are urged to follow all posted signage and directions from traffic controllers.

Park Safety Alert: Conondale Range Great Walk

A safety alert remains in effect for the Conondale Range Great Walk and parts of the Imbil State Forest. Due to fallen trees and ongoing maintenance, certain sections of the walking track are under partial closure or require extreme caution. These conditions are expected to persist until April 17, 2026. Hikers should check current conditions before departing.

Post-Cyclone Health and Recovery Notice

Following the recent impacts of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle, recovery efforts continue across the Sunshine Coast. Residents are reminded to be vigilant regarding health risks in flood-affected areas. Queensland Health advises avoiding contact with standing floodwaters to prevent the risk of melioidosis. Financial assistance for personal hardship remains available for eligible community members impacted by the severe weather event.

Local Law Enforcement: Mobile Signage

Council issued a final reminder today regarding the enforcement of local laws related to movable advertising. Non-compliant mobile signage, including trailers used for advertising on public roads, must be removed by the close of business today, March 31, to avoid potential fines. This follows recent compliance notices issued in the Palmview area to protect community amenity and road safety.
