Transport Alert: Sunshine Coast Rail Line Track Closure

Translink has confirmed that the scheduled weekday track closure for the Sunshine Coast line remains in effect through the final service today, Tuesday, 17 March. These works are essential for the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade and general corridor maintenance.

  • Affected Segment: The track is closed between Landsborough and Caboolture stations.
  • Alternative Transport: Timetabled railbuses (Routes R609 and R616) are operating in both directions to replace train services. Passengers should allow for additional travel time.
  • Resumption of Service: Normal train services are scheduled to resume with the first service on Wednesday, 18 March.

Road Rehabilitation and Maintenance Schedule

As part of the regional road reseal and rehabilitation program, the following works are active or commencing today, 17 March 2026. Motorists are urged to follow all directional signage and exercise caution near work zones.

  • Buderim: Road resealing works commence today on Burnett Lane. Residents should expect minor delays and restricted street parking between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM for the next two weeks. Ongoing resealing also continues on Cumberland Way.
  • Alexandra Headland: Road rehabilitation on Janet Street is entering its second week. Traffic management remains in place.
  • Aroona: Construction begins today on the pathway renewal project at Ocean Ridge Park. The existing footpath will be replaced over a two-week period, with minor pedestrian diversions around the work site.

Public Safety and Community Advisories

Council reminds all road users to remain vigilant during dawn and dusk periods to reduce the risk of wildlife collisions. Recent data suggests increased animal activity near coastal and hinterland corridors this week.

Additionally, Council crews continue to monitor park conditions following recent seasonal growth. High-profile district parks are being prioritized in the current weekly mowing cycle to ensure facilities remain fit for community use. For further inquiries regarding local maintenance, residents may contact the Council via the standard online service request forms.
