Celebrate Harmony Week with Sunset Meditation

Today, Tuesday, March 17, marks an important moment in the region’s Harmony Week celebrations. Residents and visitors are invited to find their inner peace at the Sahaja Yoga Meditation session. This free community event is part of the 'Everyone Belongs on the Sunshine Coast' initiative, aimed at fostering connection and cultural respect across our diverse population.

The session takes place from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Kawana Island Meeting Place, located at 5 Grand Parade, Parrearra. Guided by experienced volunteers, the evening will feature simple techniques to calm the mind and reduce stress, accompanied by light traditional music and singing. It is an ideal way to celebrate the spirit of inclusion while enjoying the tranquil surroundings of Kawana Island.

Surf Photography Exhibition: A Visual Tribute to Noosa

While the professional surfers are busy on the breaks, the Noosa Festival of Surfing offers a stunning cultural alternative for those who prefer to stay dry. The Noosa Surf Photography Exhibition is open today at Noosa Longboards, starting from 7:30 AM. This public exhibition is a visual celebration of the waves, culture, and community that define the Noosa World Surfing Reserve.

The exhibition features the work of six exceptional local photographers, including Hannah Prewitt, Sam Fairbank, and Melissa Hoareau. Sponsored by Nikon and Ted’s Cameras, the gallery captures the magic of the coast through unique lenses, showcasing everything from early morning swells to intimate community moments. It is a must-see for art lovers and those interested in the artistic heartbeat of the Sunshine Coast.

New on the Big Screen Today

For those looking to escape into the world of cinema, today marks a significant day for film enthusiasts with two major releases hitting local screens. Cinemas across the coast, including those at Maroochydore and Caloundra, are premiering the following:

  • Frankenstein

    – A highly anticipated 150-minute epic that reimagines the classic tale of a brilliant scientist and his tragic creation.
  • Train Dreams

    – A moving 102-minute drama following a man’s journey through the towering forests and expanding railroads of the early 20th century.

Additionally, some venues are hosting 'Mystery Screenings' this evening, offering a surprise cinematic experience for the adventurous moviegoer.

St. Patrick’s Day Spirits at the Beach Bar

No Tuesday, March 17, would be complete without a nod to St. Patrick’s Day. The Noosa Festival of Surfing’s Beach Bar, situated right on the sands of Noosa Main Beach, will be open from midday until 8:00 PM. While the atmosphere is distinctly coastal, expect plenty of green accessories and a festive 'craic' as locals gather to enjoy live music and cold drinks. It is the perfect spot to soak up the autumn sun and celebrate the Irish spirit with a view of the peeling walls of First Point.
