Public Notice: Infrastructure Works and Essential Services Update

Community Alert: Infrastructure Projects and Official Council Notices
Sunshine Coast residents and visitors are advised of several key public notices, roadwork schedules, and essential service updates active for Sunday, 15 February 2026. Sunshine Coast Council and state authorities have outlined the following priorities for the region to ensure public safety and the continued maintenance of local infrastructure.
Transport and Road Conditions
Motorists should anticipate changed traffic conditions and plan for potential delays across the following areas:
- Steve Irwin Way: Significant night works associated with the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade remain active. Construction occurs between 7:00 pm and 5:00 am, Sunday through Thursday. Drivers should expect reduced speed limits and increased heavy vehicle movements between Beerburrum and Beerwah.
- North Arm: Lane reductions are currently in effect on Running Creek Road. These maintenance works are scheduled for completion by approximately 10:00 pm this evening, Sunday, 15 February.
- Alexandra Headland: The Alex Bluff Foreshore Park coastal pathway upgrade is underway. The project involves renewing and widening the existing 1.8-metre path to a 3.5-metre shared pathway to improve safety and accessibility. Pedestrians are advised to follow all detour signage in the area.
- Residential Resealing: Road surface maintenance is ongoing in Bli Bli (Kupiano Drive and Waigani Street) and Burnside (Greenhaven Close, Parkvista Court, and Windsor Road). While local access is maintained, residents should allow extra travel time.
Council Finance and Service Reminders
Several administrative and community deadlines are fast approaching for residents:
- Rates Payments: Rate notices for the current period are due for payment by Friday, 20 February 2026. Council offers various online and in-person payment methods to ensure residents can meet this deadline.
- Library Closure Notice: All Sunshine Coast Libraries will be closed on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, for essential staff training and development. Standard hours will resume the following day, and all digital services will remain available during the physical closure.
- Community Grants: The 2026 Community Grants campaign is now open for applications. Local non-profit organizations are encouraged to submit proposals for projects that benefit the regional community.
Health and Development Notices
Queensland Health has issued a public interest notice following a recently identified case of locally acquired Hepatitis E. While investigations into the exposure source continue, health authorities remind the public to maintain strict hand hygiene and food safety practices.
Furthermore, the public notification period is currently open for the Mooloolaba Foreshore Revitalisation Project Stage 2. Residents can provide feedback on proposed development changes and height adjustments at the Mooloolaba Esplanade site until early March. Official documents are available for review through the council's planning portal.
