Public Notice: Pelican Waters Road Resealing and Regional Health Advisories

Official Notice: Road Maintenance and Resealing Schedule
Sunshine Coast Council has announced the commencement of significant road resealing projects within Division 2, effective Wednesday, 4 February 2026. These works are part of the Council’s ongoing road rehabilitation program to ensure the longevity and safety of the region's transport network. Local residents and motorists should prepare for changed traffic conditions in the following areas:
- Pelican Waters: Road resealing works will begin at Godwin Place, Grace Court, and Stirling Castle Court. These works are expected to last approximately two weeks, weather and site conditions permitting.
- Peachester: Resealing continues on River Road (Division 1), following its start in late January. Works are expected to conclude within the coming week.
- Regional Line Marking: Maintenance crews remain active across Divisions 3 and 7, performing surface line marking on various major and local roads.
During these periods, day works will typically occur between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. While local access to properties will be maintained, traffic management measures, including reduced speed limits and temporary lane closures, will be in place. Motorists are urged to follow all directional signage for the safety of both the public and work crews.
Major Infrastructure and Pathway Upgrades
Several major capital projects are currently active across the Sunshine Coast, impacting pedestrian and cyclist access:
- Alexandra Headland: The Alex Bluff Foreshore Park coastal path upgrade is underway. The project involves widening the existing path to a 3.5-metre shared pathway. Residents should note that construction in this area is scheduled to continue for several months.
- Bli Bli: Construction of a new 72-metre pathway on Princess Drive is ongoing. The works, which include the installation of a 1.8-metre-wide concrete path from Wharf Road to Armour Place, are expected to be completed by mid-February.
- Mooloolah River Interchange: As part of the Stage 1 upgrade, the Seriata Way and Incana Court active transport links are currently closed. Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to use the designated detour via Lady Musgrave Drive and Amarina Avenue.
Public Health Advisory: Measles Alert
Queensland Health has issued a high-priority advisory following a new confirmed case of measles reported this week. Residents and visitors to the Sunshine Coast are asked to remain vigilant for symptoms, which include fever, lethargy, a runny nose, and a blotchy red rash. This follows earlier alerts in the Noosa and River Heads areas. Anyone experiencing symptoms is advised to contact their general practitioner or call 13-HEALTH (13 43 25 84). It is critical to phone ahead before visiting a medical facility to prevent further transmission.
Environmental Services and Maintenance
Council maintenance crews are operating on a peak-season mowing schedule across the region’s 1,340 parks. High-profile district parks are being serviced on a weekly to fortnightly basis to accommodate increased summer visitation. Residents are also reminded that the public consultation period for the proposed Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme is entering its final stages; community members are encouraged to review the proposed amendments at regional council offices.
