Sunshine Coast Council Public Notice: Tuesday, 3 February 2026
The following official notices and public service announcements are currently active for the Sunshine Coast region. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review these updates regarding local infrastructure projects, road safety, and community services to ensure they are informed of any potential disruptions.
Road Maintenance and Resealing Schedule
Essential road maintenance is currently underway to improve the safety and longevity of the regional road network. Motorists and local residents should expect changed traffic conditions and potential delays at the following locations:
- River Road, Peachester: Road resealing works which commenced on 28 January are scheduled to continue through this week. This project is expected to conclude by approximately 11 February. Please follow all on-site directional signage and traffic controller instructions.
- Pelican Waters Upcoming Works: Residents in Pelican Waters are advised that resealing on Godwin Place, Grace Court, and Stirling Castle Court is scheduled to commence tomorrow, 4 February. On-street parking will be restricted during work hours (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM) for approximately two weeks.
- Regional Line Marking: Ongoing maintenance of road surface line marking is being conducted in various locations across Divisions 3 and 7. These works are performed in both day and night shifts to minimize impact on peak-hour commuters.
Mooloolah River Interchange Upgrade (MRIU)
Site preparation and early works for Stage 1 of the Mooloolah River Interchange Upgrade are intensifying. Extensive land clearing and geotechnical investigations are currently active in the Mooloolaba and Mountain Creek areas. To ensure public safety, the following disruptions remain in effect:
- The Seriata Way and Incana Court active transport networks are closed to all pedestrians and cyclists to facilitate heavy machinery movement.
- A mandatory detour is in place via Lady Musgrave Drive and Amarina Avenue. Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to allow for a significantly longer journey time.
- Motorists on the Sunshine Motorway should remain alert for increased heavy vehicle entries and exits near the Mountain Creek Interchange.
2026 Community Grant Season Now Open
Sunshine Coast Council has officially opened the first Community Grant Season of 2026. Local non-profit organizations and community groups are invited to apply for funding to support projects that enhance the region's cultural, social, or environmental well-being. Applications must be submitted through the Council's online portal by the specified deadline for this round. Funding categories include community development, environment, and local heritage initiatives.
Administrative and Health Advisories
Rates Notices: Property owners are reminded that the January–June 2026 rates notices were issued last month. Residents who have not yet received their notice are encouraged to contact the Council’s revenue department. Payment arrangements must be finalized in accordance with the due dates listed to avoid late interest charges.
Public Health soil safety: Following recent localized wet weather, Queensland Health reminds residents to practice "soil safety" during outdoor cleanup or gardening. It is recommended to wear protective gloves and waterproof footwear to prevent exposure to soil-borne pathogens, such as melioidosis, particularly in areas where recent excavation or land clearing has occurred.
Civic Announcement: Council welcomes the Queensland Maroons to the region this month, as the Sunshine Coast serves as the high-performance training hub for the 2026 season. Minor traffic increases may be observed near major sporting precincts during scheduled training sessions.
