Sunshine Coast Council: Official Public Notices Roundup
As the region moves into the final weekend of January, several official notices and advisories are active for Friday, 30 January 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the following updates regarding transport, health, and administrative services to ensure a safe and productive day.
Roadworks and Traffic Management
Ongoing maintenance and infrastructure improvements continue across the Sunshine Coast. Motorists should anticipate changed traffic conditions at the following locations:
- Peachester: Road resealing is currently underway on River Road. These works commenced on 28 January and are expected to continue for approximately two weeks. Please follow all directional signage and allow for minor delays.
- Aroona: Resealing work on Beerburrum Street is entering its final scheduled days. Delays may be experienced between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
- Palmwoods: Essential road surfacing is active on Cardinal Court, Palmwoods School Road, and Old Orchard Drive. Traffic controllers will be on-site to assist residents with property access.
- Woombye: The cycle lane extension project on Petrie Creek Road continues. This long-term project involves staged traffic changes between Paynters Creek Road and Sugar View Lane.
- Major Corridors: Increased heavy vehicle movements and reduced speed limits remain in effect along Steve Irwin Way (Beerburrum to Nambour) as part of the ongoing Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line project.
- Eerwah Vale: Reduced lanes and delays are expected on Neeraway Road through February 5 due to council infrastructure works.
Public Health Advisories
Sunshine Coast Health has issued several advisories for the community to observe this week:
- Measles Alert: A public health alert remains active following confirmed cases of measles in the Sunshine Coast and North Brisbane areas. Residents are urged to ensure their vaccinations are up to date and to contact their GP if they develop symptoms such as fever and a blotchy rash.
- Back-to-School Hygiene: With the school year now underway, health officials are reminding parents that nutritious lunchboxes and consistent hygiene habits, such as regular handwashing, are essential to prevent the spread of illness in classrooms.
Park and Forest Alerts
Visitors to regional natural areas should be aware of specific access restrictions:
- Track Closures: Intermittent walking track closures are scheduled for the Lower Joalah Circuit on 30 January. Hikers should check local signage for the latest safety information before entering the trail.
- Maintenance: Strategic fireline upgrade works continue in parts of the hinterland. While most areas remain open, visitors should stay on marked paths.
Administrative and Legal Notices
- Rates Notices: The January installment of council rates was issued on 20 January 2026. Residents are reminded that payments must be settled by 20 February 2026 to avoid interest charges.
