Sunshine Coast Council Roundup: Pelican Waters Roadworks and Major Project Updates

Regional Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Works
Sunshine Coast Council has issued several notices regarding active road maintenance and infrastructure projects for Thursday, 5 February 2026. Residents in Pelican Waters and Peachester should expect minor delays and localized traffic management as part of the ongoing Road Reseal and Rehabilitation Program.
- Pelican Waters: Road resealing works commenced on 4 February at Godwin Place, Grace Court, and Stirling Castle Court. These works are expected to continue for approximately two weeks. Residents are advised that vehicle access to properties may be restricted during work hours (7:00 am to 5:00 pm), and on-street parking will be limited.
- Peachester: Maintenance on River Road, which began on 28 January, enters its final week of scheduled resealing. Additionally, preparatory site investigations are underway for the new 200-metre concrete footpath on Storrs Road, with major construction scheduled to begin early next week.
- Division 3 & 7: Maintenance road surface line marking remains ongoing across various roads. Motorists are urged to follow all traffic directions and slow down near work crews.
Foreshore and Coastal Protection Projects
Significant progress continues on several of the region’s key coastal assets. These long-term projects are part of Council's commitment to enhancing coastal resilience and community facilities.
- Mooloolaba Foreshore Revitalisation: Construction remains active on the latest stage of the foreshore project. This includes the creation of new beachfront parkland and enhanced coastal protection structures. Pedestrian detours are in place around the primary work zones.
- Moffat Beach Seawall: The reconstruction of the Moffat Beach seawall is ongoing. This project is vital for protecting local infrastructure from erosion and severe weather events. Members of the public are asked to stay clear of fenced construction areas.
- Golden Beach: Foreshore works, including improvements near TS Onslow and Diamond Head, are currently in progress to improve public access and amenities.
Public Planning and Health Advisories
Beyond physical works, Council and Queensland Health have active notices regarding community safety and future regional planning.
Council is currently in the review phase of the New Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme. Following the receipt of approximately 4,600 formal submissions, the review process is expected to continue throughout early 2026. While no new public forums are scheduled for this week, project updates are being issued to those who participated in the consultation phase.
In health news, Queensland Health has issued a reminder regarding Ryan’s Rule. This patient safety initiative allows patients, families, or carers to initiate an independent clinical review if they feel a patient’s condition is deteriorating or not improving as expected while in a public hospital. This remains a standing advisory for all residents utilizing regional health facilities in 2026.
