Public Facility Closures: Mooloolaba Triathlon Preparations

Sunshine Coast Council has issued an official notice regarding the temporary closure of key public facilities in Mooloolaba to facilitate the setup of the 34th annual Mooloolaba Triathlon festival. Residents and visitors are advised that the Northern Parklands will remain under a total closure until Tuesday, 17 March. This closure includes a complete diversion of foot traffic to ensure public safety during the installation of event infrastructure.

Additionally, the car park at Charles Clark Park is currently closed to all vehicles. This facility is scheduled to remain inaccessible to the public until Wednesday, 18 March. Council officers urge motorists to seek alternative parking in the Mooloolaba area and to follow all posted signage to avoid towing or fines. These closures are essential for the coordination of one of the region's largest sporting events, which is expected to attract over 4,400 participants this weekend.

Regional Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Works

Several significant road resealing and maintenance projects are active across the region this Thursday, 12 March. Motorists should anticipate minor delays and changed traffic conditions in the following locations:

  • Warana: Road resealing works on Mulgani Street are ongoing. Traffic management is in place between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.
  • Buddina: Works continue on Iluka Avenue and Karalise Court. Local residents will maintain property access, though through-traffic may be restricted.
  • Minyama: Night works are currently being conducted on Kensington Drive. Residents are advised to expect increased noise and light between 6:00 pm and 5:00 am as crews complete surface renewals.
  • Buderim: Demolition activities and fence renewals are active on Careen, Elinya, and Mary Streets. Pedestrians should exercise caution when navigating nearby footpaths.

Community Health and Public Services

Queensland Health maintains a current measles alert for the Sunshine Coast region. Residents who have recently visited major transport hubs or public gathering spaces are encouraged to monitor for symptoms, including fever and a blotchy rash. Those who are unsure of their vaccination status should contact their local general practitioner or call 13 HEALTH for non-urgent advice.

Furthermore, the 'Desert Rose' touring service truck from Services Australia is continuing its regional visit this week. This mobile office provides locals with direct access to federal government services, including Centrelink and Medicare assistance. Finally, the community is encouraged to participate in Harmony Week 2026 activities, which commenced on 10 March, celebrating cultural diversity under the theme 'Everyone Belongs.'
