Community Spirit and Coastal Markets This Sunday

Welcome to a special edition of our What’s On guide for the Sunshine Coast. Today, Sunday, March 8, 2026, is a significant date on our calendar as we celebrate International Women’s Day alongside our beloved local traditions. From the sun-drenched streets of Caloundra to the shaded gum trees of Noosaville, the region is alive with activity, offering a perfect blend of community empowerment, fresh local flavors, and artisanal creativity.

Celebrate International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day 2026 is being marked with several inspiring gatherings across the Coast. For those seeking a creative and soulful experience, the Create, Connect & Come Home Workshop is taking place at the Cooran Memorial School of Arts. Running from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, this event invites women to engage in conversation, art journaling, and playful inquiry. It is a space designed for gentle connection and reflection, emphasizing community over performance.

In Maroochydore, the She’s Fempowered Gathering kicks off at 9:00 am at the House of Alcheme. This morning session focuses on wellness and empowerment, providing a supportive environment for local women to connect. Additionally, the Pavilion Eumundi is hosting Wellness Talks and Morning Tea, offering another fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while focusing on holistic health.

The Sunday Market Trail

The Sunshine Coast’s famous market scene is in full swing today, providing the perfect excuse for a morning stroll and a fresh brew. The Noosa Farmers Market on Weyba Road is a must-visit for foodies, open from 7:00 am until noon. You can expect a bounty of organic produce, gourmet condiments, and just-caught seafood nestled under the fragrant gum trees.

Further south, the Cotton Tree Markets in Maroochydore offer a relaxed beachside vibe from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. This is the place to find unique handcrafted jewellery, local fashion, and original artworks. Meanwhile, the Caloundra Street Fair transforms Bulcock Street into a vibrant pedestrian mall between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. With over 120 stalls, it remains the largest street market in the region, featuring live local music and a diverse range of street food.

Civic and Community Gatherings

For those interested in local governance and community dialogue, the Sunshine Coast Community Cabinet event is being held in Caloundra today. This afternoon tea provides a rare opportunity for residents to meet with representatives and discuss local priorities in an informal setting. It is a vital moment for civic engagement as we look toward the future of our growing region.
