Official Notice: Weather Recovery, Road Reseals, and Health Advisories

Regional Weather Recovery and Flood Watch
Sunshine Coast residents can expect a transition to recovery operations this Tuesday, March 10, as the severe weather system that impacted the region over the weekend begins to move east. While conditions are forecast to ease to isolated showers throughout the day, a Flood Watch remains in effect for local rivers and creeks. Authorities continue to monitor the Maroochy and Noosa river catchments, where minor flooding was recorded earlier in the week. Residents are urged to remain cautious near waterways and never drive through floodwaters, as even shallow water can cause vehicles to lose traction or be swept away.
Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Upgrades
Several significant roadwork projects and maintenance schedules are active across the region today. Motorists should anticipate changed traffic conditions, lane closures, and potential delays in the following areas:
- Alexandra Headland: Fence renewal works are currently underway on Mary Street between the Service Road and the main thoroughfare. Additionally, the multi-month Coastal Pathway upgrade continues at Alex Bluff Foreshore Park, widening the existing path to a 3.5-metre shared-use route to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Battery Hill: Building demolition has commenced at 1 Careen Street, 1 Elinya Street, and 36 Buderim Street. These works are part of a project to facilitate essential stormwater infrastructure upgrades aimed at long-term flood mitigation in the local area.
- Road Resealing Program: Council contractors are performing road reseals in multiple suburbs as part of the annual rehabilitation program. Impacted streets this week include Mulgani Street in Warana, Iluka Avenue and Karalise Court in Buddina, and Jocelyn Drive in Eumundi. In Maroochydore, works are focused on Waterford Court and Plymouth Quay, while Point Arkwright residents will see activity on Edward Street and Jubilee Esplanade.
Public Health Alert: Measles Notification
Queensland Health maintains a public health alert for the Sunshine Coast following recently confirmed cases of measles. Residents are advised to monitor for early symptoms, which include fever, runny nose, moist cough, and red, sore eyes, followed several days later by a blotchy red rash. Health officials strongly recommend that all residents check their vaccination status to ensure they have received two doses of the MMR vaccine. If you suspect you have symptoms, please phone your GP or the Sunshine Coast University Hospital emergency department ahead of arrival to ensure appropriate infection control measures are in place.
Administrative Notices
Sunshine Coast Council reminds residents that New Owner Rates Notices were issued earlier this month and remain due by April 2, 2026. Additionally, the community engagement phase for the proposed Sunshine Coast Dark Sky Reserve remains open; residents are invited to provide feedback via the council website regarding efforts to preserve the region's nighttime environment and reduce light pollution.
