Public Notice Roundup: Critical Roadworks and Health Alerts for March 3
Official Community Notice: Tuesday, March 3, 2026
As the Sunshine Coast continues to grow and evolve, several essential maintenance projects and public safety advisories are in effect for Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to review the following updates to ensure minimal disruption to their daily routines and to stay informed on regional health guidelines.
Public Health Advisory: Measles Alert
Sunshine Coast Health has issued a continued public health alert following confirmed cases of measles within the region. While specific exposure dates at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital occurred in mid-February, authorities advise that the monitoring period remains active. Residents should be vigilant for symptoms including high fever, runny nose, cough, and a blotchy red rash. If symptoms develop, do not visit a clinic or hospital without calling ahead first to prevent further transmission. The measles vaccine remains free for individuals born during or after 1966 and is available through local GPs and participating pharmacies.
Road Maintenance and Resealing Schedule
The Sunshine Coast Council has scheduled significant road resealing works to commence on Tuesday, March 3. Motorists should anticipate minor delays and localized detours in the following areas:
- Point Arkwright: Work begins today on Edward Street and Jubilee Esplanade. Residents are advised that vehicle access may be restricted between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.
- Maroochydore: Ongoing maintenance continues at Waterford Court and Plymouth Quay. Traffic management teams will be on-site to assist with local access.
Drivers are reminded to follow all temporary signage and reduce speeds near work zones to ensure the safety of road crews.
Park and Infrastructure Upgrades
Major infrastructure projects are currently underway to improve community amenities. Construction for the new Mt Coolum Public Amenities at the entrance to Mt Coolum National Park commenced yesterday, Monday, March 2. While the walking track to the summit remains open, a significant portion of the car park is now restricted. Visitors are encouraged to consider carpooling or alternative transport where possible.
Additionally, the upgrade of the Coastal Pathway at Alex Bluff Foreshore Park is ongoing. The project aims to widen the existing path to a 3.5-metre shared pathway to better accommodate walkers and cyclists. Construction is expected to continue throughout the month.
Council Tenders and Beach Safety
Local businesses are reminded that the tender for Sunshine Coast Council Turf Maintenance Services, covering 18 separable portions across the region, closes today, Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Finally, Surf Life Saving Queensland reminds beachgoers that Happy Valley has been officially upgraded to a Tier 2 patrol level, meaning lifeguard services are now available seven days a week. Always swim between the red and yellow flags at patrolled locations such as Kings Beach, Mooloolaba, and Coolum.
