Public Notice: Service Schedule and Road Infrastructure Updates
Official Notice: Government Services Mobile Unit Schedule
Residents in the northern Sunshine Coast hinterland are advised that the Services Australia Mobile Service Centre, known as 'Desert Rose', will be stationed in Kin Kin on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. The 20-tonne mobile unit will be located opposite the Country Life Hotel on Main Street from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. On-board staff will provide face-to-face assistance for Medicare and Centrelink claims, as well as information regarding the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Department of Veterans’ Affairs services. This visit is part of a regional tour to provide convenient access to federal services for rural communities.
Community Engagement: Technology and Innovation Careers
Sunshine Coast Council encourages aspiring creators and problem-solvers to attend 'The BiG Day In' Sunshine Coast, hosted at Venue 114 today, 11 March. This community event is designed to introduce residents and students to the world of technology, innovation, and digital careers. Experts from across the industry will lead sessions on the future of work and available career pathways in the region.
Infrastructure: Road Resealing and Maintenance Program
Council’s road reseal and rehabilitation program is currently active in several suburbs. Residents should expect changed traffic conditions, including minor delays and lane closures, at the following locations:
- Warana: Mulgani Street remains under maintenance as part of a two-week resealing project that commenced earlier this month.
- Buddina: Active roadwork continues on Iluka Avenue and Karalise Court. Completion is expected within the week, weather permitting.
- Minyama: Kensington Drive is subject to night works between 6:00 pm and 5:00 am. Heavy machinery and lighting towers will be in use; residents are advised to expect increased noise during these hours.
- Eumundi: Urgent pothole repairs are being conducted on Eumundi Noosa Road near the intersection of Seib Road. Motorists are urged to use caution when approaching the area.
Project Updates: Major Infrastructure Works
Construction and clearing activities for the Mooloolah River Interchange Upgrade (MRIU) are progressing. Motorists and pedestrians are reminded that Seriata Way and the temporary carpark on Brisbane Road remain closed to facilitate construction. Alternative access for cyclists and pedestrians is available via the existing underpass connecting Amarina Avenue to Lady Musgrave Drive. Additionally, in the Glass House Mountains region, Moffat Road remains fully closed between Steve Irwin Way and Anderson Road for essential rail upgrade works. Detours are clearly signposted.
Health and Safety: Seasonal Warnings
Due to recent weather patterns across the state, authorities remind residents to stay alert to local flooding. The standard safety advisory remains in effect: 'If it’s flooded, forget it.' Motorists should not attempt to cross flooded causeways or roads where water is over the surface. Council teams are also monitoring regional conditions for public health risks associated with standing water; residents are encouraged to check their properties for potential mosquito breeding sites to assist in community health efforts.
