Welcome to a Vibrant Friday on the Sunshine Coast

It is Friday, March 6, 2026, and the Sunshine Coast is buzzing with activity. From the arrival of luxury cruise passengers in Mooloolaba to the return of our beloved evening markets, there is plenty to see and do. Whether you are looking for local artisan treasures, world-class digital art, or a dance floor to kick off the weekend, today’s line-up has something for everyone.

Twilight Markets and Local Flavours

As the sun begins to set, the coast transforms into a hub for foodies and shoppers. The Cotton Tree Twilight Markets return to Cotton Tree Park in Maroochydore today from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Held on the first Friday of every month, this market features a curated selection of artisan stalls, delicious food trucks, and free live music under the stars. It is the perfect spot for a family dinner by the river while supporting local charity Bloomhill Cancer Care.

Further north, the Marcoola Twilight Market offers a relaxed beachside vibe from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Known for its incredible international street food and fresh local produce, it is a staple for those looking to start their weekend with a bite to eat right next to the sand.

Community Buzz in Mooloolaba

Mooloolaba is extra busy today as the Azamara Onward cruise ship drops anchor. Bringing over 600 international guests to our shores as part of its journey to Hong Kong, the arrival adds a festive atmosphere to the esplanade. Expect a lively crowd at local cafés and boutiques as visitors explore our famous boardwalk and beaches.

Public Exhibitions and Gallery Tours

For those seeking a cultural fix, our regional galleries have impressive exhibitions open today:

  • Caloundra Regional Gallery: Immerse yourself in "The Brothers Gruchy," a spectacular display of nine key artworks by acclaimed digital artists Tim and Mic Gruchy. The gallery is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • Noosa Regional Gallery: Located in Tewantin, the gallery features "There Is Another Sky" by Andrew Hillhouse and the experimental video work "Limits of the Model" by Daniel von Sturmer. These exhibitions are free to enter and provide a thoughtful escape from the afternoon heat.

Evening Entertainment and Nightlife

If you are ready to dance, the nightlife scene is in full swing. Wonderland is hosting a special International Women's Day Latin Party starting at 9:00 pm, celebrating with high-energy music and community spirit. Alternatively, Spice Nightlife presents "Club Lonely: Chapter 2" from 8:30 pm for those looking for the latest in electronic and house music.
